CAN'T-WAIT WEDNESDAY: I Can't Wait for: Fled by Meg Keneally

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. Find out more here.

I'm currently enjoying the historical crime and mystery series featuring Hugh Monsarrat, gentleman convict, that Australian author Meg Keneally has co-written with her father, Tom Keneally.

When I learned that she had 'flown solo' and written an historical adventure novel based on the life of Mary Bryant, a convict who in 1791 successfully escaped from the penal colony of Australia, I knew this was one book definitely on my reading list for this year. Due for release on April 15, it won't be long until I get my hands on a copy!

Synopsis

Highway robber. Convict. Runaway. Mother. She will do anything for freedom, but at what cost? Jenny Trelawney is no ordinary thief. Forced by poverty to live in the forest, she becomes a successful highwaywoman – until her luck runs out.

Transported to Britain’s furthest colony, Jenny must tackle new challenges and growing responsibilities. And when famine hits the new colony, Jenny becomes convinced that those she most cares about will not survive. She becomes the leader in a grand plot of escape, but is survival any more certain in a small open boat on an unknown ocean?
