COVER REVEAL: 19th Century Australian Crime and Mystery Collection

Today, I'm pleased to be participating in the blog tour promoting a new fiction collection from Corella Press. I have two posts scheduled for today: this cover reveal and, later, a book review and news of a giveaway.

A very exciting event will take place in Brisbane on August 30th 2019 at the Avid Reader Bookshop. Corella Press, an initiative of Queensland University, will launch the first two books

of their 19th Century Australian Crime and Mystery Collection.

The Collection will comprise four books, all by Australian authors whose works were serialised in early Australian publications and have remained forgotten, until now. The first two books are Bridget's Locket and Other Mysteries by Waif Wanda (Mary Helena Fortune) and The Millwood Mystery by Jeannie Lockett.

The elegant and intricate cover designs, incorporating various Australian elements, are by Brisbane-based illustrator Kathleen Jennings. Kathleen works with cut-paper silhouettes, pen and ink, and scratchboard.

Her original designs for these two books were cut-paper silhouettes, which she described as "very fiddly and gratifying", but what a result! These covers, together with those of the next two books, will form one complete picture, a lovely representation of Historical Australian Crime and Mystery.

More information on the launch and how to register can be found here.
